FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DONALD WEYHRAUCH SWORN-IN TO REPRESENT DISTRICT 4

At its meeting on August 16, 2022, the Porterville City Council voted unanimously to appoint Donald Weyhrauch to the Council representing District Four, previously vacated by Council Member A. Monte Reyes. The formal swearing-in ceremony took place at the City Council meeting on September 6, 2022. Retired California Superior Court Judge Glade Roper swore in Council Member Weyhrauch and commended him for choosing to take the Oath of Office in front of the public instead of in private, which is standard procedure. Judge Roper stated that the Oath read represented an obligation to serve the public and that it is the same Oath given to Federal and State officials.

Council Member Weyhrauch expressed his gratitude to the public and Council for being provided the opportunity and privilege to serve the community. He stated that he was, “honored to be here and have the opportunity to serve the people of Porterville.” He also stated he looks forward to keeping the trajectory of past Council Members and City staff who have lead and helped the community. Council Member Weyhrauch was appointed by the Council as its designated representative to the boards and committees previously held by Council Member Reyes, including: Porterville Area Development Authority (PADA), Ad Hoc Committee for Proposition 64 – regulation of cannabis, Tule River Improvement Joint Powers Authority, and the Eastern Tule Groundwater Sustainability Agency Joint Powers Authority. Council Member Weyhrauch also stated that he looks forward to listening and communicating with constituents and hopes to be able to hold town halls in the future.  Council Member Weyhrauch will serve the term of the District Four office until November 2024.
