Explore the Tule River Parkway
Sponsored by the Tule River Parkway Association

November 6, 2021
Drop in between 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM

Have you ever visited the Tule River Parkway here in Porterville?  Now is your chance to enjoy nature and learn more about the longest pedestrian path in our community!  The Parkway was originally developed as part of an extensive effort to clean up the river and make the natural wonder accessible to the public.  It features a walking and bike trail with expansion planned for the future.

Native Plant Gardens Guided Tours- The Tule River Parkway is home to beautiful native plant gardens that have been adopted by various organizations and individuals in our community.  They are part of a program developed by the City of Porterville together with the Tule River Parkway Association, California Native Plant Society, and US Fish and Wildlife in which volunteers plant and care for demonstration concept gardens along the trail.  These gardens provide improved habitat for birds, bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, while using less water.  Take a guided tour from the project manager and discover more about the design concepts of the gardens and how you can get involved with the "Adopt a Garden" project!

5K Run/ Walk-
Want a little more challenge than the 2.2 mile trail?  We will have a course marked that is exactly 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) for those of you that want to work up a sweat or get some practice in before the big Veterans Day Run/ Walk on November 11.

Refreshments-  What kind of festivity would this be if there weren't some snacks?  We will supply plenty of goodies to fuel your morning.

Parking
- Meet us at the Jaye Street Park and Ride lot.  There is an entrance to the parking lot just to the south of the Jaye Street Bridge (see map below).

There is no cost to attend.  See you there!
