The Arts Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council regarding the development and promotion of practices and policies pertaining to the Arts.
The Arts Commission consists of seven members. Three (3) “open” seats that are appointed by the City Council for three-year terms, and four (4) seats that are recommended by the initially appointed members of the “open” seats for appointment by the Council for a one-year term. Those members represent four areas of arts: 1) theatrical/ performing arts; 2) visual/graphic; 3) music; and 4) youth.
Members: Joan Givan, Mel Gosage, Judy Holloway, Donna Serna, and Deana Worthington.
The Arts Commission holds meetings as determined by the Commission and shall designate the time and place thereof.

ARTS COMMISSIONER WANTED
Applications can be submitted M-F before 5:00pm until vacancy is filled.. To be eligible for appointment, individuals must be associated with at least one category of the arts (theatrical/performing; visual/graphic; or music). The Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and currently meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at City Hall.
Anyone wishing to serve on this Commission is hereby invited to submit a Request for Appointment form to the City Clerk. The Request for Appointment form is available online at www.ci.porterville.ca.us, or can be obtained from the City Clerk, City Hall, 291 North Main Street.
